Parent/Guardian
Your child will be asked to register for the Aitkin Youth Center each school year. Below is some important information about what you can expect at AYC!
➢ You will receive a text message from me with a Google Form within a week of your child’s registration. Please complete the form to provide and confirm important information, including your current phone number, emergency contact information, and any allergies or medical information we should be aware of. This also ensures that you have my contact information readily available.
Email: AitkinYouthCenterChat@gmail.com
➢ AYC is open 3:30–7:30 PM, Tuesday & Thursday weekly. Closings for holidays and/or severe weather will be announced at the schools and shared on our Facebook page.
➢ It’s important that you understand that we do not supervise teens outside of the AYC doors. We expect that your child communicates their whereabouts with you and arranges their own transportation.
➢ Teens are welcome to stay the entire open hours of 3:30–7:30 PM, drop in for just a short time, or come and go throughout the evening.
➢ A hot meal, snacks, and beverages are provided free of charge every night!
➢ Activities, arts and crafts, and kitchen skills will be offered as options. Participation in activities is encouraged but not required.
➢ Safety, respect, and kindness toward others are expected while at AYC. If there are issues in any of these areas, staff and volunteers have the right to ask your child to leave and/or not allow your child to enter. These situations are honestly rare, but we have zero tolerance for bullying, physical or verbal violence, or disrespecting others or the AYC space.
➢ If your teen is ever asked to leave AYC, I will communicate this with you as soon as possible.
➢ It takes a village to raise honest, respectful, kind humans, and we are in this together!
Warm Regards,
